Celebrating its 30th year in the industry, American Rentals marked their milestone by opening a brand new state of the art facility at 88 W. Victoria in Long Beach, California. Just off the 710 freeway at Long Beach Blvd, the central location is “Great for us and our customers. We are just a couple of minutes away from every major freeway artery in the Los Angeles area” says owner Tony Murray. “I searched for over a year for the perfect spot, I got lucky!” The 2.5 acre equipment rental yard boasts an ultra modern 12,000 square foot building which was a fresh ground up construction project. As the general contractor, this gave Murray the ability to specifically design and build with future growth in mind. Branch manager, Hugo Nunez, played a critical roll coordinating all construction aspects with the sub contractors, while simultaneously acting as a liaison with the city officials.
The venture is also LEED certified for Green Building Design and Construction. To be LEED certified, a project is rated in six categories: Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Materials and Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Innovation in Design. Tony praised the City of Long Beach saying, “They were great to work with and very helpful with LEED guidelines.”
Opening the new flagship store is just the latest in a consistent series of achievements Tony has made since taking over the business in 2004. He has also breathed new life into the company by adding key personnel and investing in much needed new equipment. “We’ve come a very long way. It’s our people, and our ability to be innovative that sets us apart and feeds our continuing success,” touts Tony.
American’s South Gate store was merged with the new location, combing their Event and Equipment resources in Long Beach. The Bellflower yard, dubbed the “Express” store, spearheaded by branch manager Juan Torres, also moved to 9154 Rosecrans, directly next door to the original location. The Express yard is a slimmed down version of the initial store, focusing on smaller tools and towable items and ready mix concrete. Long time manager, Fernando Roldan still maintains American Rental’s third location in Orange County at 5302 Lincoln Ave, in Cypress.
